Keeping Your Gear in the Wild — Not the Landfill

At Western Mountaineering, we believe gear should last a lifetime—or longer. That’s why we offer in-house repairs for many issues and proudly support our customers in extending the life of their sleeping bags and insulated garments. Whether you’ve torn your shell fabric, worn out a zipper, or just need a little extra down, we’re here to help.

🔧 What We Repair

Most repairs are done right here at our San Jose factory by the same skilled hands that built your original gear. Common repairs include:

  • Fabric tears or punctures
  • Zipper issues and worn-out sliders
  • Overfills and down adjustments
  • Seam or drawcord damage

If you’re unsure whether a repair is possible, email us at [email protected] with a brief description and photos of the issue. We’re happy to assess it for you.

đź’¸ Repair Costs

Costs vary depending on the complexity and time required. We’ll do our best to provide an estimate via email, but final pricing will be confirmed once we’ve received and inspected your item. Most repair costs are based on labor time, not materials.

🧠 Can I Repair It Myself?

Yes! For minor issues, self-repair is often simple and effective.

Zipper Issues

If your zipper isn’t staying closed, the slider may just be worn out. You can:

  • Check that the zipper tapes are aligned evenly before zipping.
  • Request a replacement slider set from us—we’ll send it with DIY instructions.

Email [email protected] and we’ll be happy to help.

Small Tears

Tiny holes or tears can often be fixed at home using repair tape such as:

  • Gear Aid Tenacious Tape
  • Tear-Aid patches

These adhesives are durable, washable, and designed for technical gear. Check with the product’s instructions for best results.
